Retainers
After your orthodontic appliance has been removed, it is important to wear your retainer consistently so that teeth do not revert back to their previous positions.

Instructions:
  • -Wear your retainers full time until the doctor instructs otherwise.
  • -Remove the retainers when eating and put the retainers in their case so they are not lost or thrown away accidentally.
  • -Clean retainers thoroughly at least once a day with a toothbrush and water. Use warm water but not hot. Brushing the retainers removes plaque and eliminates odors that may accumulate over time.
  • -Initially, retainers may hinder or impair speech. Practice speaking, reading, or singing out loud to get used to communicating with them in.
  • -Retainers are breakable. If a retainer is lost or broken, call our office right away and do not try to adjust them yourself.
  • -Always bring your retainers to your appointments so that the orthodontist can check them for wear.
  • -Remove retainers when swimming or playing sports.
  • -Retainers are expensive to replace! Take care of them properly and they will last for years.
